Halifax Minster

IMG 0988

Graham Gribbin  is Organist at Halifax Minster, having taken over from Chris Brown a couple of years ago.

His musical career started at Bradford Cathedral as a chorister and he began to learn the organ under the tutelage of the late Keith Rhodes. On leaving school, Graham embarked on an apprenticeship at Barker’s, Leeds, as a piano tuner. In 1883, at the age of 19, he established GSG Pianos in Shelf, between Bradford and Halifax. Now having been trading for over 30 years, GSG Pianos is still the foremost piano supplier in the North of England.

Graham’s first love is the organ and traditional Anglican Choral music. He has been organist at St Michael’s, Shelf, St Martin’s, Heaton, All Saint’s, Elland and numerous other parish churches. His appointment as sub-organist and, subsequently, organist at Halifax Minster was a tremendous accolade to his musicianship.

Graham is passionate about the Harrison and Harrison organ, and works tirelessly to raise funds for its renovation.

Graham, with Canon Hilary Barber as Director of Music, have taken the Minster Choir to new heights.

Lunch is served from 12.15(£4) with the recital at 1.00.
