Key Stage 2 Themed History Tours

A number of tours are available:

Halifax Minster is pleased to introduce to you our new schools programme for KS2 offering new opportunities for learning outside the classroom.

We have put together two new trails designed to work with the National Curriculum and the Creative Curriculum.

Halifax Minster has been a place of worship for over 900 years.  It is thought that the original church was Saxon and made of wood.  The Normans built a stone building before 1120.  The current building was started in 1438.  It has always been a resource serving the town and the area of Calderdale.  In our new education programme, we hope to continue this mission of service to schools and children.

The two guided trails we are offering you are embedded in the history of the Minster.  From the Cluniac monks who built the Norman church through to the Victorian vicars who demanded social reform and condemned the slums of Halifax.

If you have any questions or suggestions for or about the programme we offer please feel free to contact us.
