Worship is what we do when we come together to express love for and belief in God, and to ask God to help us grow as individuals and as a community into the people God wants us to be. The intention of all our church services is to be worshipful places of encounter with the divine.

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with singing”
Services at the Minster involve a range of elements such as listening to God’s word, praying together in silence or aloud, sharing in the Eucharist, listening to someone preach and singing hymns and psalms of praise to name just a few. Services follow the authorised texts for the Church of England, but these provide great flexibility.
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name”
At Halifax Minster, we offer a wide range of services, which may have different structures, atmospheres and focussed purposes. Elsewhere on these pages you will find a list of service times, but below is a more detailed outline of what you can expect when you come to particular services.
“For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.”Psalm 100
